When George W. Bush was elected president in 2000, my Grandfather Papa Mack said he would take us to war with Iraq before his term ended. I told Conservative friends at that time and they looked at me as if I had lost my Liberal mind. Well true to Papa Mack's prediction we did go to war with Iraq, and we have since learned it was based on lies and a brain washing propaganda campaign of the American public. There are some who still adamently support that decision regardless of what the facts are. These same people are the one's who proudly and ignorantly oppose every step of progress the Obama administration is trying to move us in.
What really frighten's me now is a prediction made by one of my close friends, she can see the end of the U.S. brought down by anarchists, people who are being fueled with anger from the extreme far Right of the Republican party. These people make no bones about how they detest President Obama and it makes me wonder what deep seeded roots of racism is in their hearts. They openly post political advertisements shooting guns, spouting ignorance, and in my opinion sending an underlying message to their followers, "revolt".
It is my fear about how close we are to such a situation, "1" bullet. If this scenario were to occur, the outcome would not be their idea of "Eden", it would be a civil war, and surely it would end not only what they consider the inevitable Socialist takeover, but our way of life and it would only remain to be seen what would be built from the ashes and bones.

Conservative Friends
I have many friends who consider themselves Conservatives, and at times I wonder what they really deep down think of me. In most cases we have agreed to disagree on our personal views because neither side is willing to give in and no matter how heated our discussions, neither side is swayed. Laying our cards all out on the table, we've debated abortion, homosexuality and if it is a choice or not, and the rights and wrongs of going to war in Iraq. These are just a few of our differences, which are in themselves huge but not encompassing all our differences.
Most of these friends consider themselves Christians, and at times their behavior makes me question that. I personally am very spiritual, raised in the Assembly of God religion, yet I don't put all my faith in a 2 thousand year old bible and I don't believe it absolutely. If I believed it with my whole heart then I would be denying myself as to who I truly am, a gay man, who has known since very young how different I am, and after much soul searching, re-programming my mind, accept who I am as a human being. It infuriates me how some Christians refuse to think outside what the Bible's teachings are, because what if?
All of this doesn't mean I don't love my Conservative friends, it just means we do have fundamental differences and as long as we continue to respect each other we will continue with our debates.

Liberalism to Socialism
I saw a post on one of my Conservative friend's Facebook page talking about how Liberals are trying to turn the U.S. into a Socialist country, and how our "liberties" are being removed on a daily basis. My question is what "liberties" are being taken away, and if it's occuring on a daily basis then what liberty did they lose today? These same people did not raise their voice's in outrage during the time of Bush's illegal wiretapping, talk about losing a liberty! This is rhetoric to me, and it's dangerous, fueling dissent and these people are not happy with anything at this time in history. We should be wary because these people have mindsets which are on the verge of anarchy and they are people who cannot be reasoned with. They all profess to be Christians, support the NRA, and support such people as Sarah Palin and Rick Perry.

Conservative Christians and Guns
I saw a political advertisement for an Arizona congressional candidate, Pamela Gorman. It bothered me to see her standing in the country side firing a pistol of some type and also what looks like a machine gun. The advertisement ended with the statement, Conservative Christian. What is the deal with Conservative Christian's and guns especially in a state with a problem with illegal immigration? I don't get the connection, Conservative=Christian=Guns. I'm sorry but this is a contradiction to me and I don't know what they have in common. When I think of a Christian, I think about my grandmother who fed strangers which came to her door, and she sure didn't answer it with a six shooter stuck in her apron band. Conservatives today seem full of anger and even hate at times and it is frightening especially when they openly post advertisements for a political postion firing guns.
Is Government Getting Too Big
Everywhere we look we see where our government has an influence and impact to our lives. Where do we draw the line and say our government is large enough and already has enough control over our lives? These are valid questions and it is okay to have such concerns. Government has a role which is necessary for society to function, to ensure workplaces are safe, children get quality education, elderly people get the care they need, and our environment isn't contaminated with pollutants.
I hear people say they don't need the government making decisions for them. My question to them is what decisions? Most who make these comments at this time are conservatives who completely disagree with the Obama administration, and will support nothing he or his administration does.
I agree that our government is large with many different branches but I don't know where cuts could be made without consequence. I've visited countries where there was little government infrastructure and thus the people suffer on a daily basis. Yet on the flip side, I do believe we should hold our government accountable, and demand accountability for spending and waste.

Beginning a Blog On My Perspectives
For months I have posted my thoughts on issues which are important to me on Facebook. Friends have told me numerous times I should run for a public office because of my strong convictions and thoughts. It flatters me for people to have such confidence in me, however my strength is in creating dialogue and maybe encourage people to think outside of personal comfort levels, or societies conditioning.
I am going to write about many topics, religion, politics, family, friends, pets, conditions of the economy, and our environment. At times what I say may be controversial, and maybe even offensive to some. It will never be my intent to insult, however I will be straight forward, maybe even blunt. I will always welcome feedback, corrections, and conversation.
My writing will be my perspective and my personal interpretation of what is truth, for I believe we all perceive different issues with individual minds.
I welcome suggestions about issues which are important to all of us, so let the dialogue begin!!
Peace and Love to all!
