Conservative Friends

I have many friends who consider themselves Conservatives, and at times I wonder what they really deep down think of me. In most cases we have agreed to disagree on our personal views because neither side is willing to give in and no matter how heated our discussions, neither side is swayed. Laying our cards all out on the table, we've debated abortion, homosexuality and if it is a choice or not, and the rights and wrongs of going to war in Iraq. These are just a few of our differences, which are in themselves huge but not encompassing all our differences.

Most of these friends consider themselves Christians, and at times their behavior makes me question that. I personally am very spiritual, raised in the Assembly of God religion, yet I don't put all my faith in a 2 thousand year old bible and I don't believe it absolutely. If I believed it with my whole heart then I would be denying myself as to who I truly am, a gay man, who has known since very young how different I am, and after much soul searching, re-programming my mind, accept who I am as a human being. It infuriates me how some Christians refuse to think outside what the Bible's teachings are, because what if?

All of this doesn't mean I don't love my Conservative friends, it just means we do have fundamental differences and as long as we continue to respect each other we will continue with our debates.
